Pete runs a professional buying service for landlords, where materials and products are often cheaper than I can buy anywhere else. If the price on purchase is different to the quote he is like a terrier until he secures the quoted price, often saying "leave it with me". I've also found not having trade accounts at the various suppliers has not been a problem as Pete has bought on my behalf, and invoiced me so I still get the same buying group rates. Fantastic service, but you do need to let Pete know if you're not getting the quotes you expect.

We have been members of PLBG now for a couple of months and have to say the service has been outstanding. Nothing is too much trouble for Pete he does what he says he will do, which is rear in this day and age. Our experience is Pete really cares and treats each order as if he is ordering for himself, if he’s not happy with a price quoted he tells you, gets back onto the supplier and tries (most times successfully) to reduce the price.
So far we have saved thousands, on prices that we had already negotiated, i have to say its the best £50 we have invested.
I would recommend anyone who doesn’t have the buying power of the big developers to join PLBG it will save you Money and time, you wont be disappointed.

Pete owns and operates the Professional Landlords Buying Group (www.plbg.co.uk). For those that don’t know it’s a members group that negotiates large discounts on everything we need as developers.
For our latest development we’ve had a kitchen design done for approx £4.5k including integrated appliances. As part of the PLBG member service I sent the design to Pete who has re priced and split out the white goods for pricing separately.
This is the first time I’ve used this service and I have to say I’m impressed. After some tweaking with the products it looks like we’re going to be making a saving of approx £1.2k on our kitchen. That’s a saving of approx 25%!!
There are some things to bear in mind when thinking about the above and the value it’s bringing to us
1. We already trade with the kitchen supplier and have very very good account terms, so 25% on top of that is brilliant
2. This kitchen is mid range, not a basic 5 unit and work top job that’s typical for a bottom end rental.
3. There are additional savings in my time and effort that aren’t directly quantifiable that are invaluable to me because I don’t have to spend hours doing the purchasing exercise.
Most if not all of you will be aware of Pete’s competition in this market place and their sliding scale of fee’s depending on the number of properties in your portfolio. PLBG is just £40 pa irrespective of number of properties.
That’s right, just £40!! Absolute no brainer for me.......
This is just my experience, and what you require may not always be suitable for the rates PLBG has set up, but surely its worth asking the question.......

The success of our new business depends on Pete Smith and The Developers Buying Group. On our own, we could never hope to buy materials at the rates we get through the group. That bulk buying power gives us a fighting chance of building really high quality ecohomes at a decent profit. Without that, we would have to cut corners instead – something we are not prepared to do. This way we get to act like a start-up, but buy like a big, long established company. Perfect!
